Every time we go to Cocoa Beach this is a must do type of thing. It's kind of like a ritual for our family. "Ms. Apples" is always so friendly regardless if she has one or twenty people in line! We have never had a bad meal here and I think we've had just about everything on the menu. Of course you come here for the crab but the lobster, clams and other seafood items are really worth trying. There are also side dishes here that are fantastic and reasonably priced. From the potatoes, corn on the cob, crab deviled eggs, seafood rice etc., it's all great. This is not really a restaurant. You can select from the menu items and heat them up in the microwave or live crab and they will clean and prepare them. Then you take your wonderful selection outdoors, set your table up and use the little hammers and start chomping away. It overlooks the bay and there's a little bar/bait and tackle shop next door. Go grab a beer and take it over to your table to enjoy. I've seen large families bring their rice cookers and just picnic outside, eating crab for hours! This is more of an adventure than a simple dining experience that both locals and tourists can be found with mounds and mounds of crab being cracked. Warning: it is messy! Don't be afraid to get dirty! Give it a try! When you're done eating, stroll around the bay for a bit or head straight to the beach. A great way to start your day/vacation.

Best. Seafood. In. Florida. The boyfriend and I absolutely loved it. If you're down to get a little messy with your hands and eat some southern comfort food this is the place. Next time we'll do as the locals and bring some beers and sides but the crabs, lobsters, and shrimps were off the hook! Definitely coming back!

Stumbled upon this place and it is excellent! You get to pick your Live Lobsters and Crabs for them to steam and prepare for you. Excellent food and a ton of fun

I spent a week in Florida and went to Miami and Orlando, this was the bombest meal I had the WHOLE time, we ate peruvian, cuban and other delicious meals but THIS was by far the most satisfying. FLAVORGASMS! I sorta want to make a trip back to Orlando just to go to this place! Stumbled upon this place searching for places on Yelp on our way back from Cocoa Beach and it definitely exceeded expectations.

Ms. Apple's is a wonderful 'crab shack' experience! It is, as they say, the 'real deal'. WHO SHOULD GO: People who enjoy fresh seafood in a rustic family setting; people who love garlic. WHO SHOULD NOT GO: Neatniks, people who don't like to get messy when they eat, people who want 'white linen' service. Ms. Apple's is a simple, rustic crab shack where you pick your victims - er - crab and/or lobster, and it's cooked to order for you. They also have pre-made dishes like mussels, prawns and shrimp cooked with gobs of minced garlic and grated Parmesan cheese (I'm guessing on the cheese). Best part is that if you want, you can bring your own side dishes and bevvies (they don't sell booze here, but you can bring your whole damn travel bar! Cover an outdoor table with (provided) paper, spread out your grub and tuck in! This place looks like it's always busy. Service is quick and businesslike. Verdict: If you're anywhere near this place, and you love seafood (esp. shellfish), you HAVE to stop in for a singular dining experience!

Medium-sized Maine lobster with red potatoes on the side. Downright well-done and garlicky delicious !!! And Julio showed this chick how to EASILY de-shell a lobster tail !!!

Mark A. & I have been attempting to try this place for moooonths! I purposely scheduled a trip to the area specifically to eat at Ms Apples only to find out she was on vacation for a month! Womp. So we finally made it here when they were open as a pits-stop on drive up to St. Augustine. There were no live crabs in the pools. Maybe because we came on a Saturday, and they're closed Sunday and Monday? So it was the end of the week for them? I was not expecting a frozen plastic box to be microwaved there, so that was a bit of a disappointment. It was still fairly good, though. Nice to sit outside and just go at your seafood. I guess it's probably best to buy the live crabs to cook at home, rather than pick one of their microwavable platters.

We came here to check out the hype for ourselves. I took the acclaim from friends & rolled with it. Unfortunately, I didn't get enough info prior to our visit. We failed to catch that the take-out selection is pre-packaged & served cold. If you're dining from that menu & choose to eat on-site, you'll be directed to the microwaves. Meh. That's disappointing. It was after the fact when we found out about how to score there. Best to choose from their live tanks & have them steam your picks for a nominal charge. Unfortunately (again), the live tanks were empty. Perhaps, it can be explained by our timing of the visit & their hours (or days) of operation. They are closed on Sundays & Mondays. We've made the trip to the establishment twice in which the first was a failure. We've thought about making the detour on our several Orlando road trips. Doesn't seem likely we'll be able to give it a real fair shot. But that should speak to the importance of consistent service.

At first look, this is more a seafood market than it is a seafood restaurant... even though there are plenty of people sitting at the picnic tables outside or people waiting for a table to open up. Inside there's a flurry of activity as people are grabbing their blue crabs or workers picking out people's orders into packages. Behind the counter, is a slightly grumpy lady who I presume is the owner. Workers there are very friendly and helpful, even as I wandered around looking aimlessly to see how to order. On the right side of the restaurant has a big board on the wall with the various combinations of dishes available. After waiting a few minutes, our number was called and we were served our dishes each in a plastic container with loads of buttery garlic goodness. The dishes need to be reheated and there are a bank of microwaves opposite the menu on the wall. Each dish has a specific cook time in the microwave, but most were in the 2-3 minute range. My first thought was microwaved food can't taste very good, but I was surprised how yummy everything turned out. The buttery goodness certainly contributed to the rich flavor. People tend to bring coolers with homemade sides, like rice or bread, to eat with their dishes. The clams were fantastic and the crab legs were tasty, definitely recommend trying both. There are brown paper rolls available where you can pull out and put over the picnic tables outside. Along the side is a sink with soap and paper towels to wash you hands before and after the meal. Its a fun experience overall and the food was good, definitely worth the visit.

My experience was great here, picked out two or three crabs with my name on it. We took our food to go but it would of been great if we got a chance to eat there but they close early. That's the only reason they didn't get 5 stars. On vacation in near Orlando try this place out early. About an hour and a half away but good to see different part of FL

Best seafood restaurant thus far...don't forget the homemade butter....it's amazing. Nice Asian hostess with the mostest.

Off the wall, hole in the walk place where you eat by the bay, no servers just great seafood. Very casual dinning. It was truly a treat. Be prepared to use your fingers. Well worth it.

It doesn't get any fresher! You select your own crabs, convince them you're setting them free, and let Ms. Apple's very helpful staff steam em up before the little buggers know what's up! Remember to get some garlic butter, then head next door to Doc's Bait House to enjoy your crabs with a frosty beverage! A little slice of heaven...right on Merritt Island.

Great lunch! VERY casual. My son and I ate snow crab, blue crab, clams, rock shrimp and jumbo shrimp. We couldn't even finish it all. Huge helpings! The only down side is having to microwave your order before eating. That was a little strange. Heat it longer than the 3 minutes they recommend.

Stop by for some crab but ended up a crazy free for all crab fest. They ran out of crab so we were waiting for the next batch. When it came everyone was fighting for crab like if their life was depended on it. We luck out because we were right in front of the crab bin. I guess it was worth it cause the wife was happy. Once you pick your crab, they weight it and they cook it if you want. 20 min later you have you crab and you can eat there if you like it bring it home. Get there early so you will have a table. Bring drink and what ever you like to eat with your crab. All in all, the price was very good for what you get. Just a be ready for those obnoxious people fighting for crabs.

I'm giving this place two stars because on the day I went, Wednesday, there weren't any live crabs. As I looked up and down the take out menu, I realized something that stuck me as odd: all the items were pre-made, and needed to be heated up in a microwave. Now, I'm no crab connoisseur, but nuking pre-cooked crab kinda was very, very off-putting. That, and trying the crabs that my party had made me glad I did not choose any of those items. I stuck with their conch salad, key lime pie, and a soda. The conch salad was on point, but in my opinion a rather small serving for the 6 dollar price. (It comes in a small plastic container) It had a great spiciness to it due to the jalapeños in the salad, but I must reiterate the portion was very small. The key lime pie was good too, but I doubt that I was fresh, rather store bought. The refreshing soda was the highlight of my meal, as I jet-skied that same afternoon. Overall, I know, and am glad, that I will not come here again, as this was just my party grabbing lunch during our spring break in Cocoa Beach.

Best Maine lobster south of New England. This place is a really good deal and they're very friendly. It's certainly "no frills" dining but delicious and a great value.

Awesome place! Fresh crabs and insanely delicious take-out, definitely have a new seafood favorite for the area.

If you're looking for a fancy sit down seafood restaurant, this is not for you. BUT, if you get excited about eating with your hands and ending your dining experience with food all over your hands/face/clothes/hair (yes, hair...hammers were involved in this whole fooding process), Ms. Apples is a must-try in this area. Food: The menu is a list of 15(?) choices, all less than $12. I chose the #3: Garlic Crab and Shrimp. It came with 3 blue crabs and 15+ shrimps, smothered in their special garlic sauce. At first glance, I thought the garlic sauce would be overpowering and I actually wanted to taste the crab and shrimp. But whatever else was mixed in with the garlic in the sauce made everything work really well together with the seafood, which itself was very fresh and flavorful. Atmosphere/Presentation: This place is really a seafood market with a bunch of picnic tables outside, not a restaurant. I got my meal extremely fast, mostly because it was pre-packaged and waiting in the fridge. There are several microwaves around for people to use, and next to them are directions for how much time to nuke the food (organized by the meal #). Note: I went at somewhat of an odd hour to eat (~4pm), so unsure if this is the norm. I did see some customers pick out live crabs from the tanks and have them cook everything fresh, but no idea if the prices differ for this option. My only regret is that I wore business clothes and went back to work afterwards. Everyday life lessons: Garlicky breath and stained pants do not get you promoted. Actually, no. I regret nothing. Overall experience? Messy but AMAZING.

Nom nom nom..... Ms apple's is bad ass and the crabs sure are tasty... What else can I say!

Will never go back. We were charged for four meals instead of three. You are served cold food in styrofoam containers and expected to microwave them. The food was over cooked to begin with and then cooked more by heating them in microwave. Crazy! There was such chaos in there we didn't want to dispute the charges do just left. There were three of us and all agreed we'd never go back.

Great hole in the wall seafood place. Be ready to self serve once you pick up your order including heating up your own sides and combination platters. Sometimes it is a madhouse inside and be very careful with the slippery floors. The corn is a must have. Crabs with old bay are great. Skip the fresh lobster. The clams are tasty as js the seafood rice. Get ready for food drenched in margarine and garlic. It will get messy so be prepared. It is fun to eat with family or meet up with friends. Our kids love to fish at the dock next to the parking lot but there's alot of puffer fish there. Just for fun, nothing you would want to keep or eat.

If you love seafood and not afraid to get your hands dirty this is the place for ya. The seafood is SO FRESH and SO CLEAN CLEAN!! I love to get the shrimp and snow crab legs steamed with the garlic butter and grab some corn and seafood rice!! Then I try not to hurt myself eating!!! The garlic butter set everything off and will make you want to sleep somebody the food e so good. The shrimp are large and succulent and snow crab legs were sweet. The corn is flavored with the garlic butter we all. Wen you bit into the corn on the cob is is juicy goodness. The seafood rice has to be warmed up but that is alright microwaves are made for this type of job!! Pop it in there and WHOA lil mama it is good!!! The rice has crab meat, shrimps and the famous garlic butter!!! They also have old bay butter. I also purchase the butter alone for my crabs to dip in which is heaven, If you like blue crabs, grab a bucket and start finding your feasts for the day, Have them steamed and you are on your way after pay. They sell prepared dinners that need tone warmed up in the microwave. I have had these as well and they are good. The lobster dinners are great as well as the live lobster (they steam) The place is a bit rustic. The have picnic tables outside for patrons to sit and eat. They even have the wooden hammer to sack your food with. They don't look very cleaned but hey you are not eating the shell but the goodness inside. People bring their own sides, table cloth, drinks then buy their seafood and the family sit and eat. I like taking my food home just to hot to eat outside. This place is small and can get very crowded so be prepared to wait.

Food is another reason we want to visit Cocoa beach. The seafood is great and quite tasty. The wait time can be a little disturbing though, since this place can get very crowed. I will still recommend everyone who plan to visit the area try this restaurant.

Delicious seafood! They have live blue crabs, shrimp, mussels, crab legs, etc. and everything was decently priced. We came in at 11am, we were the only ones there. We picked our crabs and they said it will be available in 15-20 minutes. It was the fastest 15 minutes of my life. You're allowed to bring your own drinks but they do have sodas you can purchase. Their sides include rice, corn, roasted potatoes and seafood salad. Microwaves are available for your use if you want to bring extra food. We got a little excited and got way too much food. You can skip getting items on the to-go menu; they're precooked portions that you heat up at home. But that didn't stop me, the to-go food was still good. By the time we were done eating at 12pm, the place was packed! Also, Ms. Apples was hilarious and talked so much. Haha. We drove from Orlando and it was so worth it.

3rd and LAST time here. I can get live crabs and fresh seafood in Orlando THAT DOESN'T TASTE LIKE BLEACH. The place has a bleach odor from cleaning I'm sure however, my boyfriends food tasted like it was saturated in bleach. He was gagging for 30 minutes. Maybe a mistake when cleaning but they should be more careful. I ordered the jumbo crabs the first time. No big deal. The last 2 times I ordered crab legs and shrimp. Some shrimp were ok and some broke apart and mushed in your hand (clearly they weren't fresh) The crab legs stuck to the shell which means they too were overcooked. You get your dinners in a plastic container and there are about 8 microwaves so you can eat your food there. Ms Apple tells you 2 minutes to heat your food. My food was already overcooked so 2 minutes in the microwave made it horrific. It's a tourist attraction on the inlet at best. Don't waste your money. Get better seafood 15 minutes away in the Port. (Atlantic and Millikens are my faves)

On the plus side, the food is as fresh as they come, and the prices are ridiculously good for what you get. That said, here's a no-nonsense breakdown: 1. Grab a bucket and tongs 2. Choose your crabs, or have them grab a lobster 3. Let them know how you want it cooked (there are several options...they should have a list) 4. Wait for your number to be called (at least 20-30 minutes) 5. Order shrimp to be cooked if you like 6. Pay 7. Eat Do not order from the pre-made menu on the wall. They are pre-made in a tray, refrigerated, and need to be reheated in the microwave. They offer rice, butter sauce, and corn. But I would highly recommend bringing your own drinks and sides. Other than that, enjoy the food!
